| Brass, copper and
magnesium dies can be used to foil stamp, blind emboss, and
foil emboss. It is important to know which type of die to
use based on the specific job, desired outcome, and cost constraints.
We are the professionals
and will recommend the die you need for your job.
A brief description
of each type of die follows:
BRASS
This is usually the
most expensive die, but also produces the best quality. Brass
dies have a long useful life because thousands of impressions
can be made from the same die.
Brass dies can be
used in flat foil stamping, blind embossing, and foil embossing.
When a combination
foil embossing die is used both the foil stamping and embossing
can be accomplished in one pass through the press.
Brass die images
can be flat, raised flat, raised round, or sculptured since
the images are engraved in the metal by an artistic engraver.
COPPER
This die is usually
less expensive than the brass die but more expensive than
the magnesium die. Its useful life is long like the brass
die.
Copper dies can
be used in flat foil stamping and blind embossing. Foil
embossing can be achieved while using copper dies but two
passes through the press are required. The image must be
flat stamped using a flat stamping die and register embossed
using an embossing die.
MAGNESIUM
This is usually the
least expensive die, but its useful life is much shorter than
the brass and copper dies.
Ideal for short
runs, this die can be used similarly as the copper die.
Quality is somewhat less than the brass or copper dies.
